Richard "Richie" Snelling
Richie, grew up in Monterey, co-owns and manages the Monterey Tennis Center with his brother Monty. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in accounting and is now the Varsity Tennis Coach at Santa Catalina School. Additionally, Richie has an athletic background, having played for the tennis team at Grand Canyon University along with completing Ironman Arizona in 2019.

Jim Somerville
Meet Jim Somerville, a graduate of the University of Hawaii with a degree in Travel Industry Management, renowned for his prowess in tennis and passion for pickleball. With an ATP singles ranking of 778 and doubles ranking of 445, Jim's journey includes being #1 Open singles player in Hawaii and the #2 18 and under singles player.
As Tennis Director and Head Coach at the Monterey Bay Racquet Club, Jim inspires the next generation while showcasing his love for both tennis and pickleball. Notably, he was the former coach of 2023 D1 NCAA Champion Ethan Quinn and serves as the Varsity Head Coach for Monterey High School Boys and Girls teams.

Javier "Javi" Vargas
Javi, a Monterey native, excels in tennis and pickleball, both coaching and competing at high levels. He began at the Monterey Tennis Center and the Hyatt Regency, igniting his passion. Alongside coaching, Javi actively competes in local leagues and tournaments. Currently, he's an assistant coach at Santa Catalina and the head pickleball teaching pro at the Hyatt Regency, leaving a lasting mark on the local sports community.

Breana "Bre" Woodrich
Having worked at Lululemon for a couple of years, Bre's experience laid the foundation for engaging conversations with athletes and coaches, emphasizing continuous self-improvement. The creative freedom at the Monterey Bay Racquet Club allows Breana to teach new techniques, create community events, and flourish as both a coach and player. Contributing to a welcoming community of players and friends, Bre is motivated to improve daily in her dual roles at the club.

Ernest "Erne"
Ernest, our delightful Havanese puppy mascot, adds a touch of joy and playfulness to the Monterey Bay Racquet Club family. Born on May 17th, 2023, this furry friend brings infectious enthusiasm and a wagging tail to every corner of the club. Ernest's presence is a constant reminder that, just like on the courts, a spirit of fun and camaraderie is always at the forefront of our club. Keep an eye out for Ernest, as he's sure to bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart whenever he's around!
